Former "Real Madrid" defender Ivan Helguera expressed his critical views on the coaching changes at the club. On the "Bajo Palos" podcast, he called the dismissal of Xabi Alonso a hasty and unfounded decision. According to Helguera, under Alonso, the team was playing a very organized and solid game, especially in defense.
The former footballer noted that it is difficult to understand the chain of decisions made by the club's management. In his opinion, a top club like "Real Madrid" needed an experienced specialist. Helguera specifically noted that Raul, who has led "Castilla" for many years, would be a better fit for the position, as he understands the club's environment and values well.
At the same time, Ivan Helguera was skeptical about the appointment of Alvaro Arbeloa. He emphasized that bringing in a coach who has no experience in the top division and is failing with his team is an illogical step. Helguera assessed this situation as another mistake and a senseless decision for "Real Madrid".
