Arsenal avoided defeat thanks to a goal scored in the 89th minute

In the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, Bayer Leverkusen hosted Arsenal at their home ground, and the evening in Leverkusen ended dramatically. The match ended with a score of 1:1. The hosts took the lead at the start of the second half, while the Londoners evaded defeat by scoring from a penalty in the final minutes.
In the first half of the game, both teams acted cautiously: "Bayer" tried to build attacks step by step, while "Arsenal" tried to use quick passes, keeping the ball under control. The account was opened after the break. In the 46th minute, Andrić put Bayer Leverkusen ahead with a precise shot - 1:0. This goal gave the stadium additional energy, and the hosts began to take control of the game's tempo for a while.
However, Arsenal fought to the end. In the 89th minute, Havertz calmly scored from a penalty, restoring the balance - 1:1. Thus, the Londoners maintained a very important draw (and psychological advantage) on their trip to Leverkusen.
Now the fate of the pair will be decided in the return game. For information, the second leg between Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal will take place on March 18th in London. So, the intrigue is alive: the draw in the first game made the return match even more interesting.
