Reports about «Manchester City» goalkeeper and Italy national team player Gianluigi Donnarumma, including claims that players allegedly demanded money to qualify for the World Cup, have been denied. This was reported by Sky Sport.
According to the goalkeeper, such a matter was never raised within the team, and these rumors hurt him the most. Donnarumma emphasized that as a captain, he never asked the federation for a single euro.
“Usually, if the team achieves its goal, the federation simply gives players a gift. No one requested any special bonus. For us, the greatest reward would have been qualifying for the World Cup, but unfortunately, this did not happen,” he said in an interview.
It should be recalled that earlier reports claimed that Italy national team players allegedly demanded a 300,000-euro bonus for qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, which sparked discussions. However, Donnarumma completely denied these reports and openly explained the truth.
