Ilia Topuria revealed a number of issues related to the fight against Islam Makhachev, sparking a major discussion among fans.
According to him, initially the UFC offered him a fight against Makhachev, and he accepted the offer. However, as Topuria claims, after he went to bed, the situation completely changed in the middle of the night.
He stated that he received many calls from the UFC, saying that Makhachev had been injured, and instead he was offered to step into the octagon against Justin Gaethje. This further intensified the situation surrounding fight preparations.
At the same time, Topuria responded to Makhachev’s claim that he allegedly demands too much money. He strongly denied these accusations, calling them baseless.
“This is a lie. I know the truth. A fighter should not care about how much another fighter is asking for. I never count other people’s income,” he said.
According to Topuria, Makhachev had already made excuses before, and now again creates the impression that he is avoiding the fight for various reasons. He considers this approach incorrect from a sporting point of view.
