Former Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos commented on the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
The Munich team won the first match away at Real Madrid’s home ground with a 2:1 scoreline, but according to Kroos, they were not able to fully maintain their psychological advantage during the game.
“The events that happened did not surprise me, because Bayern played very well. However, what happened after they went 2:0 up was the most unexpected psychological turning point.
In recent years, Bayern have played well against Real Madrid, but in second-leg matches they often fail to maintain the required result due to small mistakes.
At 2:0, the match should have been almost finished. But Bayern dropped in defense and lost their aggressiveness,” said Kroos.
According to him, at that moment the German side fully controlled the game and even had chances to extend the score.
“I expected a few more goals from them — the third, fourth, maybe even the fifth. But the opposite happened.
