Saudi Arabia head coach Hervé Renard dismissed

The Saudi Arabia national team has recorded a series of unsuccessful results in its recent friendly matches. The team suffered defeats against Serbia (1:2), Egypt (0:4), and Algeria (0:2).

These results have caused concern among fans and experts. In particular, the lack of balance between attack and defense has become evident. Consequently, the French specialist has been relieved of his duties.

Hervé Renard was reappointed as the head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team in late October 2024. He previously managed the team between 2019 and 2023, successfully leading them to the final stage of the 2022 World Cup as a historic achievement.

Renard's coaching career is marked by extensive experience. He has previously managed national teams such as Ghana, Zambia, Angola, Ivory Coast, and Morocco. He won the Africa Cup of Nations with Zambia in 2012 and with Ivory Coast in 2015.

Saudi Arabia has been placed in Group H for the 2026 World Cup. There, the team will compete against the national teams of Spain, Cape Verde, and Uruguay.

The current situation poses serious questions for the Saudi Arabia national team. While there is time before the tournament, pressure is mounting daily — the team must now quickly recover under a new head coach.
