Erling Haaland expressed sincere and warm opinions about Abdukodir Khusanov and highly praised the Uzbek defender’s performance at “Manchester City.” The Norwegian striker particularly emphasized his quick adaptation and stable performances under pressure.
22-year-old Abdukodir Khusanov is confidently performing this season for “Manchester City” and steadily securing his place in the starting lineup. He especially stood out for his major contribution in the 3:0 away victory against “Chelsea.”
After that match, Erling Haaland took his teammate toward the away supporters section and encouraged him to celebrate the victory together with the fans, which created a special atmosphere. In the League Cup final as well, he encouraged Khusanov to come out to the fans holding the trophy.
Haaland said that adapting to the Premier League was not easy for Khusanov — a new country, a new language, and high pressure. However, despite all of this, he did not lose himself and quickly reached a high level of football.
- “I remember the situation with Khusanov, because Abdukodir is showing amazing and excellent performances in our team. It was not easy for him, he came to a new country, he did not know the language. It was difficult in all aspects. Abdukodir was under great pressure and became the first Uzbek footballer in the Premier League,” Haaland said.
The Norwegian star also noted that he considers it important to help young players in the team, as he himself has gone through such stages. This attitude further increases Khusanov’s confidence.
- “For me it is important to help others, because I know how they feel and sometimes it can be a bit difficult. It is important to help them feel comfortable,” Haaland said in an interview with Sky Sports.
It is worth noting that Abdukodir Khusanov joined “Manchester City” in January 2025 and quickly became one of the key figures of the team. He has already won the English League Cup and was named Player of the Month twice during the season.
