Manchester City midfielder Nico Gonzalez shared his thoughts on the battle for the English Premier League title.
He noted that if players had been told at the beginning of the season that they would still be in the title race with five rounds remaining, they would have happily accepted it. Now, the team has come very close to this goal:
"If we were told at the start of the season that we would be fighting for the title with 5 rounds left, we would have agreed. We are very close now," Gonzalez said.
At the same time, the player emphasized the need to focus on each game individually. According to him, the most important task is to prepare for the match against the next opponent, Burnley, and to move forward step by step:
"We need to focus all our attention on Burnley. It is necessary to move toward the goal step by step," the player stated.
Gonzalez expressed satisfaction with the team's overall condition and said the title race is proving to be very interesting. He assessed the chances of the two teams as nearly equal, specifically 50-50:
“I think the chances are 50-50. It will be a very interesting contest until the end. I have full confidence in our team,” the player told City Xtra.
For reference, if Manchester City defeats Burnley, they will move level on points with Arsenal. In the previous round, the "Citizens" defeated the London side with a score of 2-1.
