Abdukodir Khusanov, currently playing successfully for Manchester City in England, is in the spotlight not only for Uzbek fans but also for the European football community. His journey in such a short time, his hard work, and his willpower are becoming a true inspiration for many.
Vladimir Yaprinsev, a former executive at Dinamo-Minsk and a three-time world and four-time European sambo champion, shared warm memories of the Uzbek defender's first steps at Energetik-BGU.
He emphasized that even back then, Abdukodir Khusanov stood out from those around him due to his discipline and diligence.
— I am always interested in bright and strong-willed personalities in football. To be honest, in a certain sense, I also had a hand in the development process of Abdukodir Khusanov. Today he has reached the level of Manchester City, and this is a matter of pride for me as well.
This young man left a very big impression on me. In particular, I will never forget how he fasted during the holy month of Ramadan and yet worked tirelessly in training. When others struggled, he worked even harder. This showed his character, — said Vladimir Yaprinsev.
Watching Khusanov, the former athlete admitted that he was reminded of his own youth.
— Looking at him, I remembered myself. I recalled my childhood, coming to a big city, trying to find my place in life, and striving to reach my dreams. That is why I love sports — it can bring a person back to their roots and dreams, — he added.
Abdukodir Khusanov has now become one of the most famous football players in Uzbekistan. His number of personal fans is growing not only in our country but also in Europe and other nations. Many highly appreciate his humility, hard work, and reliable performance on the pitch.
For information, Abdukodir is a product of the Bunyodkor academy. However, he began his professional career at the then-Belarusian club Energetik-BGU. Later, this team continued to operate under the name SKA-1938 Minsk.
Between 2022 and 2023, Khusanov participated in a total of 34 matches for the Belarusian club, recording four goals and four assists. He also won silver medals in the national championship with his team.
The talented Uzbek defender's performance began to attract the attention of strong European clubs, and in the summer of 2023, the French club Lens signed him. Abdukodir played 31 matches for the French side and provided one assist. Most importantly, he also made his debut in European competitions.
A year and a half later, on January 20, 2025, the famous English club Manchester City transferred the Uzbek defender for 40 million euros. This was assessed as one of the most significant events not only for Khusanov but in the entire history of Uzbek football.
