Uzbekistan awaits the Asian Cup draw from Pot 1

Today, May 9, the draw ceremony for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, to be held in Saudi Arabia, will take place. All eyes are on Riyadh ahead of this tournament, which is considered one of the most prestigious in continental football.
The draw ceremony starts at 23:00 Tashkent time. After this event, the national teams' group opponents will be revealed, intensifying the intrigue surrounding the 2027 Asian Cup. For fans, this ceremony marks the first exciting stage before the major tournament.
Notably, the Uzbekistan national team, coached by Fabio Cannavaro, has been placed in Pot 1 for the draw. This reflects our representatives' growing status in Asian football, their consistent results in recent years, and their rising continental reputation.
Being in Pot 1 provides a significant advantage for our national team, as Uzbekistan is considered among the continent's top-rated sides. However, while a favorable pot is helpful, the game is decided on the pitch. It is not enough to say the draw was 'good' — you still have to play the ball correctly.
The Asian Cup will take place in Saudi Arabia from January 7 to February 5, 2027. A total of 24 national teams will participate in the tournament, competing for the continental title across 6 groups.
This tournament is seen as a major opportunity for the Uzbekistan national team. A new generation is emerging alongside experienced players. Fans expect serious results, strong performances, and a worthy run on the continental stage from the team led by Fabio Cannavaro.
Of course, every opponent in the Asian Cup must be respected. Competition in Asian football has intensified significantly in recent years. The concept of an 'easy group' has virtually disappeared, as every team is now organized, physically prepared, and fights for results until the end.
Therefore, while the draw result is important for Uzbekistan, the main task is proper preparation, strengthening the squad, and arriving at the tournament with high morale. To achieve big goals in the Asian Cup, one must rely on discipline, hard work, and unity, not just a name.
Now all eyes are on the draw ceremony in Riyadh. It will soon be known which opponents Uzbekistan will face in their group. Fans want one thing: for our national team to go far in this Asian Cup and defend the honor of the country with dignity.
