Carrick does not consider the draw at Sunderland a bad result

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick shared his thoughts after the match against Sunderland in the 36th round of the Premier League. The away game ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
Carrick noted that playing at Sunderland's stadium is never easy for any team. The hosts have been recording solid results at home this season, so Manchester United expected a tough challenge.
“It is always difficult to play at this stadium; the hosts have a good home record this season,” said Carrick.
The manager stated that the team must accept the draw. He believes that while they couldn't win, keeping a clean sheet is a positive aspect. Manchester United has scored many goals this season, but in football, there are sometimes difficult, 'closed' games where attacks don't pay off.
Carrick noted that his team had chances to snatch a win late in the game. However, creating opportunities is one thing, and converting them is another. This time, the Red Devils could not deliver the decisive blow.
“We have to accept the draw. Keeping a clean sheet is also a positive. We have scored many goals this season, but these types of games happen in football. We could have snatched the win at the end,” he added.
Overall, Carrick did not rate the result as bad. He openly admitted he did not expect a perfect performance, showing he has a realistic view of the situation. Away from home, under pressure, and late in the season, a single point can be crucial.
“Overall, the result is not bad. We didn't expect our game to be perfect,” said Carrick.
Of course, Manchester United fans expect a win in such games, especially as the season nears its end and points become more valuable. But for Carrick, one of the most important aspects was the defensive discipline and avoiding defeat.
Now, Manchester United must be more precise in attack and cooler in front of goal in upcoming matches. In the Premier League, the end of the season is no joke: every dropped point will be felt in the final table.
