Ranieri expresses readiness to manage Italy national team

Experienced Italian coach Claudio Ranieri has announced his readiness to take charge of the national team. According to Sky Sports, the 74-year-old manager openly stated that he would consider an offer if approached by the Italian FA.
Ranieri recalled that he previously had the opportunity to manage the Italian national team. However, at that time, he was working at Roma and emphasized that it was impossible to hold two important positions simultaneously.
“I previously said ‘no’ to managing the Italian national team because I was working at Roma, and it was impossible to hold two roles. Now I am free, so if an offer comes, why shouldn't I accept it? When your country calls, you say ‘yes’,” said Ranieri.
For context, Claudio Ranieri left his role as an advisor to the Roma board at the end of April. It is reported that this was due to disagreements with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. Thus, the Italian specialist is currently free and ready for a new challenge.
Ranieri is considered one of the most experienced coaches in world football. Throughout his career, he has managed clubs such as Roma, Cagliari, Watford, Sampdoria, Chelsea, Atletico, Fiorentina, Napoli, Fulham, Nantes, Leicester, Monaco, Inter, Juventus, Parma, Valencia, as well as the Greece national team.
One of the specialist's greatest achievements is undoubtedly winning the Premier League title with Leicester. This event is still remembered as one of the greatest sensations in football history. Ranieri is known for such experience, patience, and the ability to inspire a team.
The name Ranieri is not unfamiliar to Uzbek fans. The captain and top scorer of our national team, Eldor Shomurodov, played under Claudio Ranieri at Cagliari and Roma during his time in Italy. Notably, during his time working with Ranieri, Eldor became an important player for his team.
This aspect demonstrates the specialist's experience in working with players, giving them confidence, and finding the right role at the right time. Ranieri is considered a coach who brings order, discipline, and mental stability to a team.
The Italian national team is currently going through a difficult period. The team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. After a defeat against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the playoffs, head coach Gennaro Gattuso was dismissed.
Italy is considered one of the national teams with the greatest history in world football. However, the 'Azzurri' are missing out on the World Cup for the second consecutive time. For one of the few teams that have been world champions, this is a very heavy blow and a sign of a major crisis.
In such a situation, the candidacy of an experienced specialist like Ranieri, who has seen pressure and worked in various environments, could be an interesting option for Italy. He seems ready to take on the task of rebuilding the national team, giving confidence to the players, and restoring national pride.
Now the main question is what decision the Italian Football Federation will make. Ranieri has clearly stated his position: if the country calls, he is ready to say 'yes'. This once again shows the experienced coach's attitude towards football and the Italian national team.
