Roberto Martinez: Cristiano Ronaldo's level has not dropped

Portugal national team head coach Roberto Martinez emphasized that Cristiano Ronaldo's move to the Saudi Pro League has not affected his international performance. The specialist, who visited Riyadh, did not hide his admiration for the veteran striker's physical condition and hunger for victory. This is reported by Goal.com .

Martinez watched the match between Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia directly from the stadium. During the match, the coach analyzed the performance of Ruben Neves, Joao Felix, and national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo. The 41-year-old striker has scored 26 goals this season, contributing significantly to his team's success.

In an interview with the German agency DPA, Martinez said: "Cristiano has maintained a great passion for winning. I see no signs that his level has dropped since coming to Saudi Arabia. He is playing excellently and proving how important he is for the Portugal national team."

At the same time, the coach reminded that despite Ronaldo's legendary status, every player is evaluated based on equal requirements to receive a call-up to the national team. "Achievements do not guarantee a spot in the national team. Even though he is the captain, he has the same responsibilities as other players," added Martinez.

Now all attention is focused on May 19, when Martinez will announce the 26-man squad for the 2026 World Cup. If included, Cristiano Ronaldo will participate in his sixth World Cup, setting a historic record.
