Lothar Matthäus: Bayern could sign Josko Gvardiol

Josko Gvardiol, who moved from RB Leipzig to Manchester City for 90 million euros in 2023, could soon return to the Bundesliga. According to German football legend Lothar Matthäus, Bayern Munich has taken initial steps to sign the Croatian defender. This is reported by Goal.com .

In an interview with Sky, Matthäus revealed that the Bayern hierarchy is interested in the former Leipzig player currently playing for Manchester City. The expert believes that Gvardiol's ability to play with his left foot and cover several defensive positions is a major advantage for the Munich club.

Currently, Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano are the mainstays in Bayern's central defense. If Min-jae Kim leaves the club, a spot could open up for Gvardiol. However, it is clear that signing a player under contract until 2028 would be very expensive for Bayern.

Gvardiol made 87 appearances for RB Leipzig between 2021 and 2023, proving his quality. Although the Croatian international, who is a key player at Manchester City, missed part of the season due to injuries, he has now returned to regular action.
