With this achievement, Fernandes joins Premier League legends Thierry Henry (2002/03 season) and Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20 season). Bruno has become his team's primary creative force this season and was named FWA Footballer of the Year.
On his way to the record, Fernandes first surpassed Mesut Özil's tally. By assisting the goal scored by Bryan Mbeumo against Nottingham Forest, the player officially recorded his long-awaited 20th assist.
