Friendly matches. Egypt beat Russia, Qatar lost to Ireland

Preparing for the World Cup, the national teams of Egypt and Qatar played their latest friendly matches on May 28. Both teams took to the pitch to test their form ahead of the tournament.

Egypt, who lost 0-2 to the Uzbekistan national team in November, hosted Russia in Cairo this time. The fate of the match was decided by a single goal in the second half. In the 65th minute, Zico scored to secure a narrow victory for the Egyptians. Notably, Egypt's main star Mohamed Salah did not play in this match.

The Russian national team tried to equalize during the match, but the Egyptian defense held firm. This victory is a psychologically important result for the African side ahead of the World Cup.

The Qatar national team played away against Ireland. A 5th-minute goal by Collins determined the final result. Qatar looked for opportunities to equalize throughout the game, but the Irish maintained their lead.

Both teams saw players sent off during the match. Moylan was dismissed for Ireland in the 45th minute, and Almoez Ali for Qatar in the 78th minute. This highlights the intense nature of the game.
