Apple has unveiled the budget iPhone 16e, starting at $599. It is the latest smartphone in the iPhone 16 lineup and offers “powerful features at a lower price.”

The new model is expected to replace the previous low-cost version of the iPhone SE. Apple has modernized the device, removing the home button and adding a larger screen with Face ID. The new model has the same A18 chip as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The device also supports Apple's AI system. There is a single camera on the back.

The new iPhone 16e includes a customizable Action button like the latest premium models, as well as the ability to connect to satellite networks for offline texting and emergency services.
The company assured that the battery life of the new gadget will last a day. Apple claims that it will work up to six hours longer than the iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours longer than all generations of the iPhone SE.
The new device will be available in 128, 256 and 512 gigabytes, as well as in white and black. This will allow Apple to sell the device in the European Union - gadget manufacturers in the region are required to use the same port. The previous iPhone SE model had a Lightning connector, while the new one supports Type-C.

The iPhone 16e model has the features that users of the iPhone 16 line will love: long battery life, high performance based on the latest generation A18 chip, an innovative “two-in-one” camera system and Apple Intelligence, said Kayanne Drance, Apple’s vice president of iPhone marketing.

As part of the update, production of the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 models has been discontinued.
