Tesla has ordered its agents to temporarily stop delivering the Cybertruck electric pickup truck to customers, Electrek reported. The company explained this decision by the fact that the stainless steel body panels are not well glued and this problem may worsen over time.
Body panel problems and safety issues
The Cybertruck's body parts are causing problems for users, especially in cold climates. Some car owners report that metal parts are separating as a result of the adhesive that holds the body panels together. This issue has been raised before, but Tesla has not yet fully resolved it. Recent images circulating online show the front bumper of a Cybertruck completely detached.
Customers have been filing complaints with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about such problems. They have reported dangerous defects such as sharp metal parts protruding from the body, vibrations caused by wind, and loud noises.
Problems with the gas pedal and exterior trim
The Cybertruck has encountered various technical problems during production. The most important of them are:
- Defects in the gas pedal, which can stick or completely detach;
- Weakness in the plastic parts of the body;
- Flaws in the manufacturing process on some models.

Tesla announced this week that it has decided to change the Cybertruck frame from steel to aluminum. This could increase the weight of the body and reduce the vehicle's payload capacity. Elon Musk previously said about the Cybertruck that "we are building it to be very strong and very capable." However, recent changes cast doubt on the fulfillment of this promise.
Sales results and financial incentives
Cybertruck sales remain lower than expected. According to Cox Automotive, Tesla sold only 39,000 Cybertrucks in 2024. This figure is significantly lower than the production capacity - the company has the ability to produce more than 125,000 vehicles per year.
To stimulate sales, Tesla has introduced a financial program. The company is currently offering auto loans with a 2-year interest rate. At the same time, the US government may provide a tax break of $ 7.5 thousand for buyers of the All-Wheel Drive version ($ 80,000).
Social and political support
Although the Cybertruck is currently ahead of other electric pickup trucks in terms of sales figures, it could become one of Tesla's biggest failures. Although the number of initial orders reached 2 million, production problems caused a decrease in this figure.
At the same time, former US President Donald Trump urged Americans to support Tesla products. This will give the company additional incentive.
