Apple is actively working on entering the foldable smartphone market while also preparing updates for its upcoming iPhone 17 lineup. According to well-known Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman, the company is planning significant changes in both directions.
First up is the foldable iPhone. Gurman believes Apple can no longer ignore the rising popularity of foldable devices, especially given the success of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold, which transforms from a regular smartphone into a compact tablet. He expects Apple to introduce its foldable phone in 2026 with an estimated price of around $2,000. Despite modest initial sales, Gurman sees this device as a potential hit.
As for the traditional iPhone lineup, Gurman doesn’t anticipate any major changes for the standard iPhone 17 model. However, he predicts minor camera improvements and the possible addition of a ProMotion display to base models.
The biggest changes are expected in the iPhone 17 Pro models, which may feature an upgraded triple-camera system with three 48-megapixel sensors. Gurman believes the base iPhone 17 will remain a key product in Apple’s lineup due to its affordability. He also suggests that buyers keep an eye on the new iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to offer a slimmer design and a larger display area.
