Apple is working to expand its fall detection feature — originally developed for the Apple Watch — to other wearable devices, including the Vision Pro headset, smart glasses, and even contact lenses. This is according to a newly published patent, pepelac.news reported.
The fall detection technology uses the accelerometer and gyroscope inside the Apple Watch to detect if a user has fallen. If a fall is detected, the device offers options to confirm the user’s status or contact emergency services. If there is no response and the user remains still for over a minute, the watch automatically calls emergency services and shares the exact location and estimated condition. However, this feature is not functional in Russia.
Expanding this function to smart glasses and contact lenses could improve its accuracy using additional biometric data such as eye condition and pupil response, helping assess a user's state more precisely after a fall. Follow “Zamin” news on “Telegram”
