Microsoft has announced that the iconic Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) in Windows 11 will be replaced with a green screen, kun.uz reported.
The updated interface better matches the Windows 11 design principles and aims to restore system access faster. There will no longer be emojis or QR codes—just the message: “Your device ran into a problem and needs to restart,” along with a loading percentage.
A black version was also tested but rejected for resembling the Windows Update screen.
The original BSoD first appeared in 1990 with Windows 3.0 and became a well-known symbol of system crashes.
