
Apple plans to use TSMC’s 2nm chips in its upcoming iPhone 18 lineup, pepelac.news reported.
According to analysts Ming-Chi Kuo and Jeff Pu, the shift to 2nm will bring major gains in power efficiency and performance — but also raise manufacturing costs. Apple is expected to pass these costs on to consumers.
iPhone 17 will still use the improved 3nm N3P chip, while iPhone 18 will debut with next-gen 2nm architecture. TSMC will begin mass production by late 2025. Apple is building two new chip facilities in preparation.
