According to Appfigures data, new installs of X on Google Play in July 2025 decreased by 44% year-on-year, while there was growth on iOS, TechCrunch reported. Overall mobile downloads fell by 26% year-on-year; in June this figure was 35%. This decline is also putting pressure on subscription revenues.
In July, X's net subscription revenue from apps was $16.9 million (≈ 212,050,722,000 UZS), lower than March's $18.8 million (≈ 235,890,744,000 UZS) but slightly higher than June's $16.8 million (≈ 210,795,984,000 UZS). The main income is still from advertising, but the decline in demand on Android is slowing growth. Experts noted that app malfunctions are also contributing to this.
X product head Nikita Bier announced a contest for the "Android Dream Team" teammates to rebuild the Android app. Meanwhile, Meta Threads is approaching X in terms of daily mobile users. In a competitive environment, stabilizing the Android experience is crucial.
