Nepal lifts social media ban, 19 people killed
Nepal has lifted the decision to block social media. The ban on platforms such as Facebook and YouTube led many young people to take to the streets. In clashes with police in Kathmandu, 19 people were killed and more than 100 others were injured.

The government explained the ban as a measure to prevent misinformation and fraud. However, young people considered it an unfair decision and protested with slogans against corruption.

Prime Minister Sharma Oli said he was saddened by the events. The government announced that it would provide support to the families of those killed and free treatment for the injured.

The use of force by the police was criticized. Following this, Interior Minister Ramesh Lekhak resigned.
