Spotify is finally rolling out support for lossless audio streaming, TechCrunch reported. The new feature, named “HiFi,” is expected to become available to users by the end of 2025.
Lossless formats offer high-fidelity sound, delivering music quality close to studio recordings — comparable to CD quality. Spotify may offer this under a separate subscription tier, possibly called “Supremium” or something similar.
While services like Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Tidal have long supported lossless playback, Spotify had delayed its launch, drawing criticism. Now, the company is preparing to make it widely accessible to its user base.
