ChatGPT requires users to verify their age

OpenAI is tightening age restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence. The company will soon introduce an identity verification process for ChatGPT users. The goal is to prevent uncontrolled use of artificial intelligence by children, Business Insider reports.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasized that minors "need additional protection" when using artificial intelligence. Therefore, if the system cannot verify the user's age, it will request the upload of documents. Altman called this a "slight loss of comfort" for adults, but sees it as an important compromise from a security perspective.

If the user is unable to verify their age, ChatGPT will redirect them to a special version with parental control. In this mode, access to sexual content, intimate conversations, and romantic content will be closed.

OpenAI plans to launch the new system only in certain countries. Nevertheless, it was announced that parental control mode will be available to all users by the end of the month.
