Hackers offered money to BBC journalist
BBC cybersecurity reporter Joe Tidy received a strange offer from criminals. They asked for access to his work computer and promised a large sum of money in return.

The group, calling themselves “Medusa,” first offered a 15 percent share, later increasing the promise to 25 percent as a “gift.” Their goal was to steal BBC data and force the company to pay ransom.

The hackers sent the journalist a code and asked him to run it on his computer. They also flooded his phone with multiple requests, trying to break into his account password.

BBC’s information security department disconnected the journalist from the system and took extra protection measures. Experts warned that such attacks are becoming increasingly dangerous.
