Amazon in the Internet Race: Leo Ultra with 1 Gbps Speed Presented!

The technology giant Amazon demonstrated what its satellite internet project will look like. The name of the project, formerly known as "Kuiper", was changed to Amazon Leo, and the company presented the Leo Ultra terminal. The company claims it is the most powerful terminal in the world today.

Speed Record: 1 Gbps

"Leo Ultra" is a large, stationary installed phased array antenna, approximately 50x80 centimeters in size. Inside it are Amazon's proprietary chips and a full system capable of transmitting and receiving data simultaneously. Most importantly, the speed level is claimed to be very serious: up to 1 Gbps for download and up to 400 Mbps for upload is promised.

Three Different Models and Global Coverage

Although "Ultra" is the flagship model, Amazon also showcased the medium "Leo Pro" terminal, as well as the small "Leo Nano" terminal, which is only 17 centimeters with a throughput capacity of up to 100 Mbps.

Currently, Amazon has over 150 satellites in orbit, with mass launches ongoing since April. The company plans to deploy several thousand devices for global coverage, and even plans in the long term to build data centers in orbit. Equipment prices and tariffs are currently unknown, and the Amazon Leo service for ordinary users is expected to appear in 2026.
