First look at new The Sims characters leaks online

Following rumors that The Sims 4’s long-term support is nearing its end, insiders have obtained an image hinting at what the next game in the series might look like. According to reports, the new project is currently known under the codename Project X. It is said to feature a fully open world, a more photorealistic character design, and a significant expansion of life-sim gameplay options. This was reported by playground.rureports.
The Sims Community portal received an anonymous email containing a file titled TSX_MATERIAL_SIMS_EXPLORATORY. The screenshot shows four Sims, and their style differs noticeably from The Sims 4’s current look. The characters appear more detailed, with higher-quality hair and clothing textures, while the familiar Maxis-like aesthetic remains. The caption includes the slogan “Create Beyond Limits.”
According to insiders, Project X is not just another update but a standalone single-player project. It is said to have been separated from the previously discussed Project Rene (presumably The Sims 5). Reports claim Electronic Arts decided to split the experiment into two directions: Project Rene will remain more of a multiplayer platform, while Project X will be a story-driven game for the next generation.
Sources also note that 2026 may be the final stage for major expansions for The Sims 4. A “royal life” themed expansion is still expected, after which support will likely be limited mainly to technical patches and small packs.
