ChatGPT faces boycott over Pentagon partnership news

In late February, the US Department of Defense pressured Anthropic for full access to Claude, which the company refused. Just hours later, Sam Altman announced OpenAI's partnership with the Pentagon.

The subsequent data spoke for itself: ChatGPT deletions surged by 295 percent, while one-star reviews skyrocketed by 775 percent. Simultaneously, downloads dropped by 13 percent. Meanwhile, Claude saw daily growth of 40–50 percent, overtaking ChatGPT in downloads for the first time and reaching number one in the US App Store.

While Claude was previously favored primarily by tech enthusiasts, it is now being downloaded by a broad mainstream audience.
