Apple's budget MacBook Neo model tested

Apple's new MacBook Neo laptop has undergone its first benchmark tests. The device is equipped with the 6-core A18 Pro chip used in iPhone 16 Pro smartphones. According to the test results, the laptop scored 3461 points in single-core mode and 8668 points in multi-core mode. The Metal score, which reflects graphics capabilities, reached 31286 points. Reports macrumors.com.

Experts note that the multi-core performance of the MacBook Neo is almost identical to the MacBook Air with the M1 chip. However, in terms of single-core speed, the new model shows results closer to the M3 and M4 chips. This feature is perfect for daily tasks such as web browsing, working with documents, and watching videos. The laptop is not intended for heavy editing or 3D modeling.

Apple is positioning this model as a competitor to budget Windows-based laptops and Chromebooks. According to the company, the A18 Pro chip performs up to 50% faster in daily tasks than the most popular laptops with Intel Core Ultra 5 processors. In AI-related tasks, this figure can be up to 3 times higher.

The starting price of the MacBook Neo is $599. Pre-orders are currently being accepted, and official sales will begin on March 11.
