Google to introduce Aluminium OS in 2026

Google plans to release the long-awaited Aluminium OS in 2026. Previous rumors suggested a delay until 2028, but at MWC 2026, Android ecosystem president Sameer Samat refuted these claims. The new platform is expected to combine the capabilities of Android and Chrome OS. Reports rozetked.me.

Experts believe Google is focusing heavily on the laptop market. The rise of AI technology is fundamentally changing the computing experience. Aluminium OS aims to provide greater convenience by adapting to these shifts. The official name is not yet known, as "Aluminium OS" is currently just a working title.
The main advantage of the new system will be seamless connectivity between smartphones and laptops. A feature similar to Apple's "Handoff" will appear on Android devices, allowing users to continue tasks across devices effortlessly. While Chrome OS will remain on the market until 2034, Google is expected to shift resources to the new platform.
