Advertising activity on Telegram rose by 50%

Advertising activity on Telegram surged in Russia after officials warned that the messaging platform could face possible restrictions. Research by CloudBuying, based on TGStat monitoring and reviewed by Kommersant, found that the number of ad posts rose by 15% to 20% compared with the start of 2026 and by about 50% from a year earlier. Reports Habr.com.

After February 10, Telegram channels were publishing around 50,000 to 52,000 advertising posts a day. The study covered more than 7.6 million placements with a total reach of over 45 billion views. Before that, the market had been relatively steady at 30,000 to 45,000 posts daily. The peak came on February 12, when 51,800 ad posts generated about 163 million views.

Market participants say many advertisers sped up campaigns because they feared new limits could disrupt their plans. In early March, activity eased slightly to about 44,000 to 45,000 posts a day. Another factor was a March 5 statement from Russia’s antitrust service, which said advertising on Telegram could violate advertising law if access restrictions are in place.

MTS AdTech said demand for Telegram Ads in Russia jumped by an average of 68% year on year in March, while the minimum CPM fell by roughly 30%, making placements more attractive. Retailers, marketplaces, financial firms, insurers, medical companies and media outlets were among the most active buyers. Analysts say the spike is likely temporary and reflects uncertainty rather than long-term market growth.
