Asus unveiled more powerful ROG laptops

Asus has refreshed its ROG Strix G16 and ROG Strix G18 gaming laptops for 2026, giving both models faster hardware and higher power delivery. The updated machines will be offered with Intel’s Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU, pointing to a major performance boost over the previous generation. Reports Notebookcheck-ru.com.

One of the biggest changes is the new 380W power adapter, which is 100W higher than last year’s version. That suggests Asus is allowing the CPU and GPU to run at higher power levels under heavy gaming loads. The company is also including a 90Wh battery, up to 64GB of DDR5-6400 memory across two SO-DIMM slots, and up to 2TB of PCIe 4.0 storage.

Connectivity remains a strong point. Both laptops are set to feature two Thunderbolt 5 ports, Wi-Fi 7, 2.5-gigabit Ethernet, and tool-free access for upgrades. Asus is also keeping its full-surround RGB light bar design on both the 16-inch and 18-inch models.

The display options differ between the two systems. The ROG Strix G18 will use a 240Hz Mini LED panel with more than 2,000 local dimming zones, while the ROG Strix G16 will return with a 2.5K IPS display running at 300Hz. Asus says the new laptops will come in Eclipse Grey and Volt Green, but pricing and market availability have not yet been announced.
