For the first time in many years, the DS semiconductor division of Samsung Electronics has surpassed TSMC in both revenue and operating profit. As a result, Samsung has managed to overtake its main competitor for the first time in 29 quarters, or more than seven years. In the first quarter, the revenue of the company's semiconductor division was 19.3 billion dollars higher than that of TSMC.

It was also noted that the operating profit was 15.4 billion dollars higher than that of its competitor. For context, while TSMC primarily manufactures computing chips, Samsung specializes mainly in the production of various memory devices.
