Strike threat at Samsung factory: memory chip prices surge

A potential strike has emerged at the factories of Samsung, the world's largest memory chip manufacturer. The possibility of production halts due to the protest of nearly 50,000 employees has caused sharp fluctuations in the memory market. This is reported by Ixbt.com reports .

Prices at the Huaqiangbei market in Shenzhen, China, have reached record highs. Specifically, DDR4 memory chips have become 20 percent more expensive within a week. According to China Flash Market Network, the price of 8 GB DDR4 3200 memory has risen to 18 dollars.

The NAND Flash market has also stopped declining and shifted to an upward trend. Prices have increased significantly, especially in the server memory segment: 64 GB DDR5 RDIMM modules have risen by 11 percent in a month, reaching 1,350 dollars.

The National Labor Relations Commission of South Korea has halted the mediation process, noting that the disagreements between the parties are too deep. Negotiations between the labor union and Samsung Electronics management have reached a deadlock.
