NVIDIA CEO: Huawei is 10 years behind TSMC in chip technology

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang spoke at an event honoring Taiwan's leading semiconductor companies. He emphasized that the second half of this year will be the most successful period in NVIDIA's history, as the company is further strengthening its partnership with Taiwanese suppliers in next-generation technologies. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

When asked by journalists about Huawei's new chip technology, Jensen Huang stated that while it is a significant development, it does not yet pose a threat to giants like TSMC. According to him, Huawei is using technology to increase the number of transistors by two to three times without reducing the line width in the semiconductor process. "It's a very good technology, but TSMC has had it for 10 years," the NVIDIA head added.

Huang explained that TSMC has been using multi-layer chip stacking and 3D packaging technologies for a decade and has achieved tremendous success in this area. While NVIDIA appreciates the Chinese manufacturer's innovations and the new "Tau" scaling law, it believes Huawei is still significantly behind global competitors.

The NVIDIA CEO highlighted his company's achievements: "We are the only platform, chip, and computing architecture that can be used in any cloud service. We welcome competition, and NVIDIA just needs to keep moving forward," he said. Previously, researchers at Peking University announced they had developed a "LogicFolding" architecture based on Huawei chips.

He Tingbo, director of Huawei's research group, believes the new "Tau" scaling law will open a new direction for the global chip industry. Huawei also announced that, in collaboration with Chinese researchers, it has developed the world's first chip for two-dimensional parallel computing.
