Spotify Subscribers Surpass 300 Million for First Time

Spotify, the world’s leading audio streaming platform, has announced that it surpassed 300 million paid subscribers for the first time in its history. According to data released by the company, the figure shows the platform’s growing popularity despite fierce competition in the digital music market. TechCrunch.com reports .

According to ixbt.com, the service had 777 million monthly active users at the end of the second quarter. That is 12 percent more than in the same period last year. Interestingly, despite subscription price increases in several regions around the world at the beginning of the year, the company’s paid user base grew by 9 percent in the latest quarter.

Financial results are also showing steady growth. Quarterly revenue reached 4.8 billion euros, or approximately 5.52 billion dollars, up 14 percent year over year. Against this backdrop of financial success, the platform is actively diversifying its services and offering users new features.

Artificial Intelligence and New Features

In recent months, Spotify has placed particular emphasis on implementing artificial intelligence technologies. In particular, it has developed tools for creating personalized podcasts based on content from various sources. In May, the app also introduced an experimental desktop application similar to NotebookLM.

The streaming service has also added AI-powered question-and-answer and summary features for podcasts. It has partnered with ElevenLabs on tools for creating audiobooks, while an agreement with music labels allows users to create fan-made remixes.

The new conversational AI assistant introduced last month allows users to control in-app content through specific prompts. However, the platform is also facing criticism from some users because it continues to host music created with AI.

User Criticism and Future Plans

To ease user dissatisfaction, Spotify introduced a special verification system for artists and added an optional labeling feature for music created with AI last year. According to 404 Media, users are turning to alternative services such as SoullessMusic.com and SlopTracker because effective systems for detecting AI-generated music are not available.

At the same time, the platform continues to expand its offerings beyond traditional audio content. Fitness content, magazine reviews, concert ticket sales and even physical book sales are among the areas being successfully tested within the service.
