
A joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Nauru was signed in New York.
It is noted that the document was signed on behalf of the governments of the two countries by the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Ulugbek Lapasov and the Permanent Representative of Nauru to the UN Lara Erab Daniel.
The parties expressed their readiness to strengthen joint cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.
"An agreement was reached to intensify bilateral relations in order to find mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in the political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The signing of the document was an important step in the intensification of cooperation between Uzbekistan and foreign countries," the report says.
Thus, Nauru became the 159th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan. Earlier, Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with Suriname in late February.
For information, Nauru is an island state located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. Its area is 21 square kilometers, and its population is 12.3 thousand people.
