Air quality in Tashkent drops to winter levels

Air quality in Tashkent drops to winter levels
On April 6, air quality in Tashkent worsened to levels seen in winter, according to UzHydromet, nova24.uz reports.

The concentration of PM2.5 particles reached 76.4 µg/m³, which is 15.3 times above the WHO recommended limit and 2.2 times higher than the national standard.

Levels of PM10 and carbon monoxide (CO) remained within acceptable limits. Meanwhile, social media users in Uchtepa district reported a strong burning smell. Authorities have been notified to investigate the incident.

Experts explain that the low cloud cover, high humidity, and lack of wind during the night contributed to the buildup of pollutants.

As of 12:00, IqAir reported PM2.5 levels at 21 µg/m³, which is 4.4 times higher than WHO’s guideline, though still within Uzbekistan’s national threshold.
