Joint unit "Ecological Patrol" to be established in Tashkent
A joint unit “Ecological Patrol” will be established in Tashkent as a pilot project to combat environmental violations, including air pollution, and to formalize detected violations.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change will be tasked with managing the activities of the joint unit “Ecological Patrol”.

The head of the unit will be appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, and will be equated in status to the head of the department of the central office of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.

The Deputy Head of the Department is appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, is considered a military serviceman and is equated in status to the Deputy Head of the Department of the Central Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Department operates in the building located at 21, Chashtepa Street, Sergeli District, Tashkent City, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, will establish the total number of employees in the Department at 100 staff units by May 1, 2025.

The status of the Department's employees is accordingly equated to the status of inspectors of the State Environmental and Patrol Service.

A procedure shall be established in accordance with which the department shall:
  • monitor the state of the environment, identify situations that may lead to environmental pollution, irrational use of natural resources, and threaten the life and health of citizens;
  • apply effective measures to prevent, detect, and suppress violations of legislative requirements in the field of nature protection and rational use of natural resources;
  • conduct constant monitoring of the cleanliness and ecological condition of settlements, streets, consumer markets, large shopping malls, tourist attractions, and other public places, as well as adjacent territories of enterprises and organizations;
  • conduct propaganda and preventive measures to prevent violations of the law;
  • state ecological control to combat environmental violations, including air pollution, is carried out day and night.
