How are bloggers' activities regulated in Uzbekistan?

Many people are interested in what legal basis the activities of bloggers, who have taken their place in the Internet, social networks and information environment, have in our country. In this regard, we will provide information about the legal aspects of blogging and the existing legislative procedures.

There is currently no separate law in Uzbekistan that directly regulates the activities of bloggers. They mainly operate within the framework of the general legislation regulating the information sphere and the Internet system in the country.

In particular, there is a law “On Mass Media” that controls the activities of the media in the country, and bloggers are not officially included in the mass media. However, since bloggers disseminate information for a wide audience, in some cases the responsibilities established for the mass media may also be applied to them.

According to the Law “On Informatization”, any person disseminating information on the Internet, including bloggers, must disseminate only reliable and verified information that does not contradict the law. They must respect the privacy of other persons in their activities and not disseminate unfounded or unverified information.

Also, the procedures, instructions and manuals issued by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Information and Mass Communications specify the responsibilities, rights and obligations of bloggers.

Another important point is that if a blogger regularly earns income through his activities (from advertising, sponsorship or other services), he is also obliged to pay taxes.
