On May 15, 2025, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan signed an important decree aimed at further developing the tourism sector, significantly increasing the flow of foreign tourists to the country, and expanding the scope of tourism services.
In accordance with this decree, starting from June 1, 2025, a visa-free regime for citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait, and the Sultanate of Oman will be introduced into the territory of Uzbekistan. Now, citizens of these countries will have the opportunity to travel around the country without a visa for 30 days from the date of their arrival in Uzbekistan. This step will serve to increase the tourist attractiveness of Uzbekistan and strengthen its competitiveness in the international tourism market.
Another important aspect of the decree is that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was tasked with introducing a regime for citizens of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan to enter the territory of Uzbekistan with internal documents or ID cards within three months. This is intended to further improve relations with neighboring countries and increase the flow of tourists. In addition, young people under the age of 16 will be provided with the opportunity to travel on the basis of a special "kinder passport".
According to the presidential decree, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has another important task. According to it, it is necessary to begin negotiations on the introduction of a 30-day visa-free regime for US citizens to Uzbekistan, and at the same time, accelerate work on simplifying visa requirements for Uzbeks to the US. Proposals on this issue will be prepared within three months and submitted to the President.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to assign local governors to separate regions within two weeks in order to increase the number of tourists from the European Union countries, Russia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Gulf states.
This will strengthen cooperation between local governors and diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan abroad, and specific programs will be developed for each region to attract foreign tourists. Regional programs will be approved in the prescribed manner, and international cooperation in the field of tourism will further expand.
This decree is expected to usher in a new era in the tourism sector of Uzbekistan, which will be of great importance for the development of the country's economy, the creation of new jobs and the increase of Uzbekistan's international prestige.
