An unforgettable event took place in the history of Uzbekistan — a full fragment of the covering (Kiswah) belonging to the door of the Holy Kaaba was brought from Saudi Arabia to our country. This unique artifact is planned to be displayed as part of the exhibition at the Museum of the Center for Islamic Civilization.
As is known, the Kaaba is covered with a new Kiswah every year. For pilgrims, it is considered a symbol of holiness and spiritual value. Therefore, even a small piece of it carries priceless significance in the Muslim world.
It should be recalled that in February of this year, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia, Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah. During the meeting, the head of state was presented with a precious gift from King Salman Al Saud of Saudi Arabia — a piece of the Kiswah of the Holy Kaaba.
Later, the entire door section of the Kiswah, considered the most valuable part of the covering, was delivered to Uzbekistan. Experts describe this as an important religious and cultural event in the country’s history. This artifact is not only a symbol of sanctity for Muslims, but also a confirmation of Uzbekistan’s significant place in Islamic civilization.
According to the Center for Islamic Civilization, the Kiswah will be displayed in the museum exhibition and will be open to thousands of visitors and researchers. Through it, the history of the Muslim world, the significance of the Holy Kaaba, and the symbolic value of cooperation with Saudi Arabia will be more widely revealed.
It should be emphasized that this gift indicates the strengthening of religious and cultural ties between the two countries. Thanks to the cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan, the national heritage and exhibits related to Islamic civilization are further enriched.
