9,570 people were arrested in Uzbekistan in six months

In the first half of the current year, 9,570 people in Uzbekistan were deprived of liberty for various reasons. Compared to the same period in 2024, when this figure was 10,286 people, a slight decrease is observed. This was reported by the official data of the Supreme Court.

According to statistics, the largest share of those deprived of liberty falls on the capital and large cities, as well as regions. In particular, in the city of Tashkent — 1,982 people, in Tashkent region — 1,244 people, and in Fergana region — 1,044 people were imprisoned.

In other regions, the numbers are distributed as follows:

  • Andijan region — 768 people;

  • Bukhara region — 373 people;

  • Jizzakh region — 304 people;

  • Kashkadarya region — 577 people;

  • Republic of Karakalpakstan — 255 people;

  • Navoi region — 358 people;

  • Namangan region — 803 people;

  • Samarkand region — 732 people;

  • Syrdarya region — 330 people;

  • Surkhandarya region — 434 people;

  • Khorezm region — 366 people.

During the same period, in Namangan region, one person was sentenced to life imprisonment. From this statistics, it is clear that cases of crimes and legal violations occur in all regions of the country, and some individuals may be subject to the strictest punishments.

The figures for imprisonment in Uzbekistan affect not only individuals but also social security and societal norms. According to authorities, the law enforcement system plays an important role not only in protecting the rights and obligations of citizens but also in ensuring family and social security.

Thus, the half-year statistics should be considered not only as numbers but also as an important indicator of the legal state of society and the level of caution among citizens.
