In Uzbekistan, a new procedure will be introduced in the process of marriage registration. According to the decree signed by the President on September 8, “On additional measures to improve the system of providing public services and to radically reduce bureaucratic procedures in this field,” from December 1 of this year, civil registry offices will no longer require from persons entering into marriage a medical certificate of examination, reported kursiv.media.
What changes will the new procedure bring?
The adoption of the decree is expected to reduce various bureaucratic barriers for the population. Previously, when registering a marriage, young people preparing for a wedding were required to present a certificate of having passed a medical examination; now this requirement will be abolished. This change may ease the lives of many, helping them save time and money.
In addition, the decree does not apply only to marriage issues. It defines important directions related to the digitalization and simplification of the public services system.
Main goals set in the decree
By 2028, the number of services provided through the Unified Interactive Public Services Portal (my.gov.uz) and public service centers will reach 900. At the same time:
the number of proactive public services will reach 53;
the number of composite public services will increase to 74.
These figures show that public services are aimed at becoming more convenient and efficient for citizens.
A number of requirements will be abolished
From December 1, 2025, through the establishment of interagency information exchange, several redundant requirements will also be abolished. In particular:
the obligation to present a medical certificate when registering a marriage;
the requirement to present a separate certificate to civil registry offices when a marriage is dissolved on the basis of a court decision;
the requirement to indicate the owner’s address in the certificate of registration of a motor vehicle.
