The draft law discussed by the deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis is aimed at ensuring public safety and the peace of citizens. In recent years, cases of illegal carrying of cold weapons in public places have increased. This poses a serious threat not only to the law enforcement system but also to the lives of ordinary people, reported local media.
Therefore, the new draft law provides for the tightening of punishment measures against persons who repeatedly commit such offenses. For example, those who have committed domestic pressure or violence will not be granted the right to acquire weapons. In addition, for persons who have committed violence against children, existing weapons may be temporarily confiscated by law enforcement bodies.
Another important provision is related to the compulsory treatment of persons suffering from narcological diseases. Now, even a citizen who has been subjected to administrative liability once may be sent for treatment by a court decision.
Officials emphasize that the main goal of the law is the prevention of offenses, stabilization of the criminogenic situation in neighborhoods, and effective protection of the life and health of citizens. Such initiatives are positively evaluated by society, since ensuring legality means safeguarding the safety of every person.
The draft law was approved by the deputies in the first reading. Now the document will be considered at the next stages of the legislative process.
