Fuel oil will no longer be used at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plant. Currently, electricity and heat are produced exclusively using modern and highly efficient devices based on natural gas. This is aimed at providing environmentally friendly energy for the capital's residents and industrial enterprises.
At the initiative of the head of state, new gas turbines with a total capacity of 64 MW were commissioned at the center in 2024. Through these modern installations, 515 million kWh of electricity and 630 Gcal of thermal energy are produced annually for the needs of the capital's residents and the economy.
The issue of environmental safety is also a priority for the center. Special eco-posts have been installed on 3 modern gas turbine units located in the area, and the monitoring center constantly monitors and analyzes the gases released into the atmosphere. Also, in cooperation with JSC "Thermal Power Plants" and the Turkish company "Iltekno," cogeneration centers have been created in the Chilanzar, Almazar, and Sergeli districts, where the production of environmentally friendly energy using the latest modern technologies has also been established.
In the future, similar facilities are planned to be built in the Mirzo-Ulugbek, Yunusabad, Shaykhantakhur, Uchtepa, Mirabad, Yashnabad, and Yangikhayot districts. At the same time, the center makes a worthy contribution to improving the city's ecology: in 2025 alone, within the framework of the nationwide "Yashil Makon" program, 5 thousand ornamental and healthy trees were planted.
These works not only contribute to the modernization of the energy system, but also play an important role in improving the air quality and environmental protection of the capital.
