The final month of spring is approaching, and many are curious about what the weather will be like in May. According to forecasters' projections, May of this year is expected to begin with rather unstable and capricious weather. Zamin.uz presents the significant changes expected in the coming month.
Beginning of the Month: Thunderstorms and a Cool Breath
During the first five days of May, variable weather will be observed across the republic. In some regions, there is a possibility of short-term rains, thunderstorms, and increased wind speeds. During this period, air temperatures will be:
At night: 13-18 degrees warm;
During the day: around 22-27 degrees warm.
Rising Temperatures and a Breath of Summer
By the middle of the month, the air will gradually warm up. By the end of the month, the thermometer is expected to rise from 13-18 degrees to 18-23 degrees at night. During the day, temperatures are expected to warm from 25-30 degrees to 30-35 degrees. In southern provinces, northern regions, and desert zones, heat levels may reach 36-38 degrees. During this period, localized thunderstorms and rain on certain days are not ruled out.
Climatic Norms and Historical Records
In May 2026, the average monthly temperature is predicted to be 1.5-2 degrees higher than the long-term norm. Typically, May is 4-6 degrees warmer than April.
In the first half: Average daytime temperature is 24-27 degrees;
In the second half: 28-31 degrees warm.
It is worth noting that temperatures rising to 34-37 degrees in May is a natural process observed almost every year. Historically, absolute maximum heat indicators have reached 38-41 degrees, and in desert and southern regions, 43-45 degrees. Notably, new temperature records were recorded in recent years—2020, 2021, and 2025—in Qoraqalpogʻiston, Xorazm, Buxoro, and Navoiy regions.
