On the eve of Teachers' and Mentors' Day, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a sincere conversation with representatives of the sphere. During the conversation, the head of state emphasized that the main goal of the reforms being carried out in the higher education system is to transform Uzbekistan into a center of education and science throughout the region.
It is reported that currently 4 universities in our country are included in the list of the most prestigious universities in the world. In the near future, it is planned to increase their number to at least 10. This will further strengthen the position of national universities in the international arena.
Also, universities will establish cooperation with the world's top 500 universities in a number of areas. In particular, joint educational programs will be organized in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, agricultural technologies, medicine, and "green" energy.
In addition, it is planned to open branches of universities that are among the top 100 in the world in Uzbekistan. This is expected to open new opportunities for young people and further improve the quality of education.
According to the president, the Central Asian International Education Forum will be held next year to achieve these goals. More than 10 international organizations, rectors of 500 prestigious universities, and more than a thousand foreign experts will take part in it.
At the same time, it is planned to increase the number of foreign students by 5 times and bring the volume of education exports to $200 million.
During the dialogue, issues of creating the necessary conditions for education workers, improving their qualifications, and ensuring the effectiveness of reforms were also discussed. If these plans are implemented, Uzbekistan's higher education system can become one of the strongest centers not only in the region, but also on a global scale.
